Great mountains, forests and rivers near to rustic beaches...? Welcome to the Turia Valley
The Turia Valley is a small valley in the west border of the Cantabrian Mountains in the northwest of Spain very close to the beach and is divided by two counties: Asturias and Galicia. The valley has 3,910 habitants, 215 km2, 200m above sea level,has 2 towns, 13 villages and many small “aldeas”. The main towns are Pontenova (Galicia) and Taramundi (Asturias).
The Turia Valley is a sea of small mountains, ancient oak forests, rivers and dotted with small traditional stoned villages, and only 25 minutes from the sea and beaches. It is an area of immense natural beauty and friendly, open and honest people which makes holidaying there a delightful experience. The climate in the area allows for pleasant temperatures throughout the year. As with the rest of northwest Spain, the climate more varied than that of southern parts of the country and is characterized by an Atlantic climate. Summers are generally humid and warm, with considerable sunshine, but also some rain. The average tempeture in summer is 21°C (temperatures usually exceed 26°C in the day). Rain is common in winters.
